UC Riverside Prayer Walk
Jan 11, 2010

The UC Riverside Bell Tower
Hey everyone! This past Sunday, many of us from Kairos were at the University of California in Riverside for a prayer walk. For those of you who do not know, we were there to pray for the campus and for the ministry that will be starting there starting in the Fall of 2010. Because it was the day before school started, there were very few people on campus, which allowed us to walk around freely to every corner of campus, praying for the current and incoming students of UC Riverside, the surrounding areas, and for the people who will be serving at this new church, including Steve and Eunice, who currently lead the juniors in Kairos.

The campus itself has a very different feel from Berkeley’s. It must have been because it is a relatively newer campus, with not as many tall buildings. For me (and many others), it was my first time at UC Riverside, and being on that campus was almost surreal. It must have been the realization that in just a year from now, we will have people at “GP Riverside” who we can call fellow brothers and sisters. Especially because Steve, who has been my leader for the past three years, is leading this church plant with Eunice, I felt even more personally challenged to really stop and think about what it means to be mission-minded and allow God to steer your life. I’m really excited to see how God will work through this new ministry. I know that in the future, we will be keeping in close contact with the new ministry there, and even visiting and helping out during breaks (especially the students), since Riverside is so close to many of us in So-Cal.
Afterwards, we went to nearby University Village, where we enjoyed fellowship over drinks, yogurt, and lunch. I felt a sort of reflective atmosphere

Let’s keep Riverside in our prayers; God will do great things there!

Wow! I still can’t believe that we’re planting 3 churches this year. This is so exciting and amazing!
Bob’s hair is ridiculous. I’m excited for UCR – keep them in your prayers. Our own Steve Castro and Eunice will be leading.
it was great to be there with all of you! it was good to see some of the ucr students the next day. excited for what God has in store for us on that campus…
