Christmas Gift Exchange Extravaganza!

Hey Everyone!

Hope you’re all doing well.  I know it’s finals time and everyone is extremely busy studying, so hang in there!  Winter break is just around the corner.  Crank in a few more hours of hard studying and you’ll be there in no time.

So…. now for a recap of last week’s Kairos bible study and Christmas gift exchange!

Last Friday, we had Bible study in our very own North Loop building.  It was a cozy time as North Loop is very well decorated around this time of year.  Rick Yi gave a stirring message on the parable of the soils.  Through the Bible study, Rick pointed out that soil represents the condition of our heart.  The good news at the end was that, no matter which soil we relate to at the moment, we can become more and more like the good soil that grows and multiples.  I was persoanlly very impacted by reflecting on the various soils and I hope all of you were too.

After the Bible study we were all pretty hungry and enjoyed some good old…. Christmas style tacos!! Well, it wasn’t really Christmas style but it was dang good and there were tons of desserts to boot.   Here’s a couple pictures of the eating portion of the night.

After eating, we had the portion of the night everyone was looking forward to… The Gift Exchange! We split up into teams by birthday month and started off with a Pictionary game to see who would get some special abilities.

After Pictionary we had an intense Jenga match to see which team would go first!

With the formalities decided we finally began the epic 2009 Kairos Winter Christmas Party Gift Exchange!!!!
As you can see, some people got great gifts….

While others got not so great gifts….

We also had some surprise performances!

Overall it was an awesome night so I hope everyone had as great a time as I did! That’s all for now. Study hard and good luck on finals everyone!

News: Week of 12/7 – 12/13

Wow! Can you believe it? It’s the end of the school year already! Finals are quickly approaching and now it’s really time to get serious about hitting the books. But don’t stress out too much. Remember, you are still dearly loved no matter how well (or not so well) you do. ^_^

Just to do a quick recap, we had our Kairos Christmas Party/Gift Exchange last Friday and some of us were able to “survive” with some pretty snazzy gifts. More pictures are coming so just stayed tuned.

FRIDAY

DINNER
6:00pm

We’ll be having dinner by classes at different locations:

FROSH – Smart Alec’s (Corner of Durant and Telegraph) at 6pm
SOPHS, JRS, SRS – Sun Hong Kong at 6pm

COMBINED BIBLE STUDY
7:00pm @ 1st Presbyterian

For this week, we’re going to have bible study with Acts2Fellowship and Koinonia. What better way to get into the holiday spirit than to spend time with all of our friend and peers from other ministry groups. Pastor Ed will be giving a message from the IncomParable Wisdom series. See you all there!

News: Week of 11/30 – 12/6

Hope you all had a great time during Thanksgiving! Though a lot of people went home I heard there were some pretty fun things going on around here.

TC was awesome! Here’s a nice picture of some of our fearless leaders:

After a night of fun and laughter, we had an amazing dinner and took some pictures:

If you missed it this year, hope you can join us next year! Read more about Thanksgiving Celebration.

FRIDAY

BIBLE STUDY // CHRISTMAS PARTY // GIFT EXCHANGE
6:00pm RIDES @ Anna Head Parking Lot (Across from Crossroads)
Bible Study @ 2000 Northloop Rd, Alameda

You are all invited to our annual Kairos Christmas Party and Gift Exchange!

Bible study will begin at 7pm, and a scrumptious dinner will follow. I’m going to keep the menu a secret, but here are a couple of hints: There will be many varieties of this dish, and these varieties can come from different countries. Ok, one more: it rhymes with “paco” (changed since previous email). After our secret dinner, the festivities will begin. You will not want to miss the gift exchange, it will be very entertaining. In fact, you might be part of the entertainment, as we compete for the most desirable gifts.

“What should I bring?”, you ask yourself:

1. Bring yourself, hopefully a friend, and definitely a $5.00 to $10.00 gift, and preferably something that would be appealing to a brother or a sister. Please make sure your gift is wrapped or concealed in some way.

2. If you’re not too stressed from finals and are free to cook, bring a dessert! The staff will take care of dinner! :)

Study hard, good luck on finals, and an early Merry Christmas!
