Montara Beach Trip
Sep 24, 2009
This past saturday, Kairos went to Montara State Beach! We gathered bright and early at Anna Head Parking Lot to organize rides and soon we were headed over to beautiful Pacific Coast Highway and a day of fun and fellowship (by that time, our Cal Football running back, Jahvid Best had already scored two touchdowns! Go Bears!). When we got there, we needed everyone’s help to move all the food, sports equipment, chairs, and even a grill down to our spot at the beach.

The day is basically summed up in three words: sports, food, and fellowship. Students and staff alike played the usual beach sports such as volleyball, ultimate frisbee, and football while others played some more unconventional ones such as King Kong Shower. I have to say, playing sports in the sand is a lot more tiring than on grass or at the gym. Playing Ultimate Frisbee in the sand and trying to guard Mike Park made me really tired really fast. Then of course, what would a day at the beach be without food? We had delicious burgers and hot dogs, which tasted even more awesome because we were all hungry from playing sports.

An intense game of football! I think Roy got burned here (:

A game of volleyball

Grilling our awesome lunch

Hungry college students waiting in line for patties and hot dogs
All in all, I think everybody had a lot of fun (and got a lot of exercise)!

I look forward to our next outing! I hear that we might be having a Sierra Lodge trip very soon. Keep on the watch for the announcement! :] See you all at Bible Study!

Thanks for posting — and for taking the photos — DP! That football photo is pretty tight. Not only did you zoom in on the sand getting kicked up, but Hartie and Roy’s expressions are priceless!
Andy mentioned this in another post, but shout out again to Richard Tay and Nelson for grillin’!
oh my! this trip was awesome! running on sand was harder than i thought..but the sisters’ ultimate football was awesome! my favorite moment was when the sisters were sitting in a circle playing king kong shower and the wave came way up to us and took us by surprise. We all just screamed, jumped and fled =O
Thanks david for the pics and memories. The football game was pretty awesome and i must say that the undergrads are inching closer to beating the staff, though that is yet to happen!! haha
Shout out to John Korea, with 2 major interceptions and game’s only TD! David – I love that shot of the volleyball court with the net. Perfect!
Great pics David! The weather was great and it was awesome to see quite a few sports games going at once with our large group. I’m glad we could get a volleyball and show the undergrads they are no match against the staff! =D
i know John Korea isn’t going to say this but it was 3 interceptions, no? I still have to beat Andy before I graduate…. is it ever going to happen? T_T
Thanks for capturing memories DP
