Thanks for your sharing! I'm thankful that we were able to do this as a group and experience serving those less fortunate than us. Even though Amy and I missed this, 30 hour famine is always one of the highlights of our calendar year!

Thanks for the sharing, Ryan. It really was quite an experience fasting and serving together. I was impressed by how so many students took ownership and raised so much money through so many ways. I'm so glad I could be a part of this with all of you.

Thanks so much for your sharing. I'm really sad I couldn't join you guys, but I'm thankful that we had a chance as a church to participate in such good work....through getting creative about ways to earn money, bringing awareness and asking others to participate in this effort, and putting in 100% of ourselves to witness to the world. Thanks again for everyone's hard work and participation, and I'm looking forward to next year's 30 Hour Famine!

Updated figures are in:
http://www.gracepointonline.org/30hourfamine/Stats.html

Donations are still coming in, but so far we've already broken last year's record! If $30 can sustain a child for a month, then the amount we've raised ($110k) is able to sustain 30 children for 10 years! Good job to everyone who participated!

Thanks Ryan, this is incredible. It shows that you really had the heart to associate yourself with the issue of world hunger and that you took it to go beyond yourself. I'm encouraged to take the 30h famine even more to heart the next time around.

The first time I did it, I wasn't really able to bring myself to associtate with it at all. I just did it because everyone was doing it. The second time around, however, as I prayed about it and served in the little capacity that I did (I was sick/busy and unable to really help out) - I found myself having a little softer heart. I think that with service comes a softer heart. I hope that as our church continues to look around the world and grows a heart towards it, I'll be able to more and more so get away from myself and relate in the proper manner.

It's incredible how much of our stuff that we rationalize when its something we want rather than what we need. It's a really awesome that you took it a step further and it encourages me to have deeper levels of thinking as well.

Thanks, Ryan, for sharing. I'm glad we at Gracepoint Berkeley were able to participate in the 30 Hour Famine once again this year. Even though it was a mere 30 hours, "mere" seemed more like an eternity when we were in the midst of it! As you noted, it certainly opened my eyes!

Props to Dora for snapping the photos. More of them are on our Flickr site.
