Who Had Fun at Magic Mountain?
Jun 12, 2009

The day has come and gone. And what a day it was! Who had fun at Magic Mountain? Post your responses here! What was your favorite ride and favorite moment of the trip? I personally had an awesome time. My favorite ride has got to be Tatsu (though x2 was a close second). And favorite moment? Seeing Johnny Yang with a pink cape trying to shoot 3-pointers. More pictures to come, but you can check out some here: GFC Magic Mountain Trip

Hi, I rarely post comments on blogs but maybe I will start doing so. I really had fun at Magic Mountain. Although I hated the idea of rollercoasters and was scared to death about them, I actually rode on five very crazy rides and I am still very scared of riding them. I did not ride either Tatsu or X2 and I heard people were dying after Deja Vu as well. Everybody seemed to have so much fun not only on the rollercoasters but during the times we had between either playing other side games or just sharing fellowship between rides or just waiting for other people on other rides. It was all good fun. And of course we cannot forget the long rides and the meals we shared as well. Most memorable meal was the dinner after on our way back up when we were all delirious and also Sue’s heart-shaped chicken in her salad at Carl’s Jr! I look forward to the rest of the summer ahead of us and slowly becoming part of Kairos!
One of the most memorable times for me was when Daniel Kim got up there and told everyone that they were crazy for going through the physical discomfort and nausea of roller coasters. Another one of my favorites was when Amy Tung came off of the roller coaster Tatsu, saying that it was fun, very sincerely, but in her picture, all you see is her hair (because she had her head down). But probably the most fun at MM was with Andy, Rich Yen, and myself trying to do a funny pose on Batman the Ride, only to discover that they don’t take pictures on Batman anymore – so we posed for the whole ride, to no avail.
My favorite moment at Six Flags was when Steve, Rick, Stephen, John, Matt, and I all rode on Goliath together. We spent about 10 minutes before we got on Goliath figuring out what pose we were going to do for the cameras. After deciding on a pose (while sitting in the carts I must add), we all vowed that we would maintain the pose throughout the drop until the cameras went off. We wanted to band together like brothers and go through the extreme circumstance together, so as we were going up the lift, we were all yelling and trying to get each other all pumped up. Then we went down the drop and everyone maintained the pose, except for one person, and though he crumpled under the mighty force of the negative-Gs and left the other 5 of us hanging, it made for a good picture (we’ll release the picture soon haha).
Hey Robert, yea posing for a non-existent picture on Batman was really fun!! My favorite ride was tatsu and the picture that Nelson, Cheng and Ron did take and even bought! We posed the whole time as well!!
Favorite quote: Johnny Yang – “Wow I’m not 13 anymore. I guess roller coasters aren’t as scary as I thought!”
HAHA, I totally felt the same way as it’s been 15 years since I went to an amusement park!
Magic mountain was fun! I think my favorite memory was seeing Sue get so excited and enthusiastic about riding X2.. who knew and could predict that she would be so fearless, especially after seeing her on the stone slide at Tilden? haha, and then seeing Jackie Hsu who seems so invincible get nervous about riding X2 was hilarous… it seemed like the roles had reversed
i think my favorite ride was the Gold Rush when all the sisters went on it together and were screaming for fun! X2 and Tatsu were fun, though I felt a bit dizzy and nauseous afterwards.. :/
Can anyone confirm this? I was a little further back in the line for X2, but I heard that Sue was so excited about the day in general, and going on rollercoasters… not knowing what the heck X2 was about as she waited in line. But halfway through the wait, she realized what the ride REALLY looked like and got really scared.
Haha, but at any rate, she DID go on it and even stated how she’s braver than Daniel Kim. Fearless leader, Sue!
Haha Yeah! go Sue! My favorite moments were: convincing Jackie to go on X2 and then dragging her into it last minute, trying to calm Lin down before Tatsu and having to describe the ride to her and the people on it because she couldn’t see (she took off her glasses), and lastly grabbing Jessica before she ran out of the emergency exit in Terminator (she was more scared by the intro than the actual ride XP).
The last time I was at Magic Mountain…I can’t remember! That’s how long it was. But boy, I don’t remember it being so fun. I have to admit that the first ride was X2 and it’s been years since I rode a roller coaster, so naturally, I expected the worst, but to my surprise, it wasn’t so bad. And the rest of the day, I was fully enjoying each ride with no fear. I do have to admit that Colossus worked me! I think some of the younger guys got whiplash, but not me! Youth is overrated! 8-p
It’s Tatsu all the way. It felt like flying, and feeling the incredible G-force towards the end is icing on the cake. If only the cake were larger (ie, if only Tatsu was longer)…
Speaking of Rick and X2, there’s a video of X2 on our Gracepoint Fellowship Church Video site in which Rick makes a cameo appearance. (BTW, Jammy took a jab at Rick in the comments section.)
O man, that was my first time at Magic mountain and I thought I knew what rollercoasters were b/c of disneyland, but boy was i wrong. I usually scream on disneyland rides but at magic mountain i just clenched my jaws and eyes shut… But tatsu was fun, it didn’t make me feel nauseous. I felt so happy to see so many brothers and sisters in LA too. Being at home in LA makes me appreciate the community we have here a lot more. I <3 Kairos and Gracepoint
